While searching Central Oregon for painting services you will find few painters who offer a warranty. The ones that do, only stand behind their products for a period of two years. We here at Rise Painting believe in promoting the best practices in the industry and strive to continually learn the best prep and application methods so we can deliver to you the best possible paint job for the money you are willing to spend.
In painting, we have a lot of competition. It is pretty easy for anyone to go out and buy a truck, slap a magnet on the side, throw some ladders on top of it, pick up a spray rig, and call themselves a professional. There are hundreds of exterior and interior painters in Bend, Redmond, Sisters, and the surrounding Central Oregon area. What’s to say that contractor will be around when you need to cash in on that warranty they’ve provided?
One way to tell is by looking at who they are. How long have they been in business? Are they investing time and money into the business with the goal of creating a legacy for their families to build on? What are their core values? Does the company operate on integrity and exist to provide the best possible customer experience? If a painting warranty is important to you, you may want to start asking questions of the warranty provider. You should be able to trust the painting contractor and know with certainty that they will be around to honor it.
So you find yourself liking, trusting, and getting to know your preferred painting contractor. I want to let you in on a little secret… All warranties of the same warranty period are not always the same warranty! Even though it may say “2-year Warranty” what is actually covered may be completely different. Is the coverage spelled out for you boldly in writing? Some contractors will only exclude certain surfaces. Others might only include labor, leaving you to foot the bill for all materials — even if their company was at fault! This should throw red flags everywhere. There are even some guys who claim to offer a warranty, when in fact it is only the product warranty from the paint supplier that they use and claim the warranty to be their own. Be on the lookout for “Lifetime” warranties or anything over 10 years. These types of warranties typically only cover materials when the paint manufacturer has determined that the product has been applied properly.
The last thing to consider when purchasing an exterior painting service warranty is to consider how long you will be enjoying this paint job. How long do you plan to live in the house? If you are moving in a relatively short period of time, then a shorter warranty would be appropriate. If You are not planning to move, then a mid-range warranty, like a 5 to 8 year warranty would be good. If you are someone who values the best quality with no hassles, then the longer warranty packages might be best for you. In reality, most paint jobs in Central Oregon will not last longer than 10 years due to the UV rays, harsh winters, and dry climate. All these environmental factors are very harsh on painted finishes. Warranties longer than about ten years are most likely expecting you to never call them back to fix that flaking fascia paint they neglectfully “forgot” to prime.
Once you decide on how you want your new paint to perform, you can choose a contractor and a painting system to suit your needs. Take into consideration that you will pay more for a longer warranty, but that warranty will more than pay for itself over its lifetime. I would suggest that you investigate the company providing you with a warranty. Ask about their painting systems and keep them accountable once they start. Get it all in writing before they begin.
At Rise Painting, we offer three different warranty levels. 2-years, 6-years, and 10-years, all with our “No Problem” guarantee. If you need to make a claim, we will assess the problem within 3 business days, and complete all repairs within one week…weather permitting of course. With our warranty packages, you will be reminded on your warranty anniversary date that it is time to schedule your free 1-hour touchup. Each year, for the life of your warranty, we will schedule a time for us to do a walk-through and address any potential problems. This includes re-caulking, re-scraping, re-painting and anything inbetween. In all reality, if it’s not up to our standards, we will fix it.
